Pain Affects Posture
Pain undermines posture. Pain of this kind reduces the individual’s confidence & choice. As tension rises, sensitivity is lost in an effort to tune out pain. This sets people up for pain because if you do not sense continued small deviations from ideal posture, the muscles tense without awareness. Thus, continuous effort becomes normal. Most people in pain don't realize they are working that hard. It's a kin to leaving the light on in your car all night long...it drains the battery! Even if you only control 5% of your tension consciously, that level of tension, if continuous, leads to an increase in pain.
