Unlock Mobility You Thought You'd Lost
You move through life carrying compensation patterns—tightness, guarding, or chronic discomfort—that leaves you feeling limited, fragmented, or unsure how much longer your body can keep going. Conventional approaches often treat the injured part in isolation, leaving the whole person (and the deeper habits that created the problem) untouched.

Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® is a unique method of neuromuscular reprogramming that improves HOW you move: be it exercise, work, recreation, sports or...rehabilitation from injury or surgery. But that is an oversimplification. You are hard-wired to learn through movement. It's how you learned to swallow that first sip of mother's milk at birth. It's how you learned to roll over. It's how you learned to sit up, scoot, crawl, stand and walk. By leveraging your innate ability to learn in this mode, you can minimize compensation patterns and restore natural mobility.

I know exactly what that feels like. After a building accident that required reconstructive surgery to one of the bones of my lower leg, I experienced firsthand how the medical and insurance system separates the injured part from the whole person —during that long and painful rehab process— I was stunned to notice that my training was potentially more rigorous, thorough and permanent for recovery from injury than conventional approaches. It's partly because in medicine, their hands are tied by the insurance industry. When you can only get approval for certain things, you don't get the full recovery you deserve.

I've worked with thousands of people in pain over almost 30 years. It taught me that unraveling deep muscular guarding requires an internal shift in perception. Mindless repetitive exercise strengthens muscles, but doesn't put you into that receptive mode that enhances learning. It's purely mechanical and transient. If you stop doing it, you're in trouble.

And if you do nothing to address the limping, wincing, bracing and armoring that result from significant injury, it comes back as new pain. In the medical system, that means a new diagnosis, a new insurance runaround and months of time lost when the best intervention is immediate. Instead, I can train your nervous system to recognize more functional patterns, release unconscious bracing that distributes force unevenly and generates excessive wear on your joints. In some cases, when you just strengthen and stretch, you actually end up strengthening the assymmetry that is causing you new pain.

The Current Medical Paradigm Is Minimal Care...
You Can Do Better If You Know How
Simple Somatic Practices for Self-care

Transform tension into greater mobility and make recovery from injury more permanent.

Exercise strengthens muscles, but this is a different strategy. When you retrain your brain to move in novel ways, it creates new neurological pathways that linger far after the course is over. Like learning to ride a bicycle, you don't have to remember how because you can hardly forget. The nerve synapses have become a new pathway.

Rather than just working locally to strengthen individual muscles, which is a temporary fix at best, >>>rediscover how to access the patterns that taught you how to walk in the first place.

This ten-session course provides you with a structure for neurological reprogramming.

Reduce compensation patterns and prevent the pain they cause eventually. By reducing the stimulus, you regain access to the state of learning that bypasses cognitive load and expands physical skill without traditional exercise. It reduces muscle tension. It augments focus. And it makes you age with greater mobility, not less.

  • Self-Organizing
The nervous system coordinates muscles in functional patterns. It doesn't control each muscular contraction independently.
  • Patterns Are Neurological
Before you could talk, your brain was constructing movement in patterns, using progressive inhibition and control to generate balance and mobility.
  • Retrain Your Brain
Posture and walking are examples of continuous, multi-joint coordination under changing conditions that make it possible for you to interact with the world.

A Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner since 2004, Gabrielle offers reeducation of compensation patterns in a safe environment that supports lasting change. Through mindful movement, she guides a return to the innate learning process we all used as children—learning to walk before we could talk, without words

She has worked with specifically with veterans, survivors of domestic violence, horses, equine athletes, and people who wish to remain mobile and comfortable as they age.

After a building accident, she fell onto the corner of a box that required surgery to reconstruct one of the bones of her lower leg. During the rehab process, she experienced firsthand how the medical/insurance complex separates the part that's injured from the whole person.

After additional advanced training in the Feldenkrais Method with Jeff Haller over two years beyond the initial four required to become a Feldenkrais Practitioner, she also trained with John Barnes in Myofascial Release, a body of work which also recognizes that consciousness is inherent in the body and that to ignore that fact is tantamount to impeding the recovery process.

These trainings have had such profound impact on the quality of her own life that she has decided it would be egregious not to teach others to learn these simple somatic practices for self-care.

She lives in Jacksonville, Oregon, with her two horses, Cortez and Wisconsin, and her cat, Luke...

Visualizing Your Progress
A collection of skills that enhance mobility, agility, competence and the quality of how you move, so that being in a body is enjoyable once again...
Phase 1
Phase 1
Baseline Mobility
Learn How to Self-Assess Where You Are Moving Well - Pain Conditions People To Focus On What's NOT Working.

Instead, discover how to spread the work over a larger area by using muscles that are just fine - muscles you may not have moved in so long you've forgotten how good it felt to move that way!
Phase 2
Phase 2
Baseline Effort
Learn How to Self-Assess Where You Are Using So Much Effort That It Wears You Out

Most people have no conscious awareness that they contract muscles without meaning to. It's like leaving the light on in your car. Instead of draining your battery, learn to move with as little effort as possible.
Phase 3
Phase 3
Improved Range of Motion (ROM)
Limited ROM Is Often Habitual. Learn to Assess Where You Limit Yourself In The Name of "Getting It Done" - As If Life Were About What You Produce, Not Who You Are

Instead of letting unconscious habit diminish your ROM, discover how to increase your mobility so gradually, that you are surprised when you feel the difference!
Phase 4
Phase 4
Confidence Born of Competence
Serious Injury Is Scary. Your Nervous System Braces To Protect You. Recover Mobility Lost Due to Splinting From An Old Injury Or Recent Surgery
Instead of only addressing the muscles listed in your diagnosis, discover how your neuromuscular system works and how to harness proprioception to release dysfunctional compensation patterns that cause new pain by tapping into neurological patterns that keep you safe and mobile.
Pain Is Not The Enemy: It's Communication
"Staying in choice is key to reassuring the nervous system that there is safety." - Jo-Ann Rosen, Unshakeable Trauma-Informed Mindfulness for Collective Awakening
When you fully experience all that you can learn with Awareness Through Movement, you realize that the injuries and passed pain is always as accessible to you as memory, however you must choose between the past and the present. Are you willing to use your own judgment, rather than the indoctrination of the past to live in the present?

Sometimes, life is so hard that it requires a massive commitment to change. Sometimes, life is so challenging that nothing but 110% commitment will do. Sometimes, you have to be willing to do whatever it takes.

This is certainly what has been required for me as I worked my way out of the three whiplash injuries that would have kept anyone else from working at anything physical. And if you are one of those people who is at this point, I am 110% there for you.

How Doing Less Is More...“Do more” is such an ingrained habit in our culture, an unexamined value which hurts people when applied without discernment, that the reminder to do less must become a constant awareness. Find the Somalogic Newsletter there at /embody Your Divine Nature.

Feldenkrais Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement® are more than a set of methods and techniques used by Feldenkrais teachers. They encompass a unique way of understanding and approaching issues of human functioning and human learning. Competency can only be acquired through Immersion, yet the process itself is transformative and last a lifetime because you are changing your brain.
